Drama Teacher

As of August, BASIS Prague international school is seeking a part-time teacher or teaching enthusiast to join our team as a Drama Subject Expert Teacher for Levels 1–7 (ages 5–13) at our Prague 6 (Bubeneč) campus.

Drama is a key component of our innovative Integration Course, which gives students the opportunity to apply knowledge from other subjects, engage in creative problem-solving, and express themselves in diverse ways. The Integration Course includes disciplines such as Visual Arts, Performance Arts (Drama), Connections, and Engineering. The Drama program focuses on students’ personal and social development through the use of dramatic arts.

Working time allocation: 25 working hours (teaching 11 drama lessons, remainder is preparation time etc.).

Responsibilities:

• creating the content and teaching 11 Drama lessons per week to students 5-13 years of age:

  - Level 1: class once a week = 45 minutes, 1x per week

  - Levels 2-4: class once a week = 50 minutes, 5x per week

  - Levels 5-6: class twice a week = 45 minutes, 4x per week

  - Level 7: class once a week = 45 minutes, 1x per week

• producing and directing 2 student-dramatic performances (December and June)

• supervising children and ensuring their safety and wellbeing,

• accurately grading and recording student work,

• helping students learn and develop socially and emotionally by setting good examples, offering emotional support and helping students resolve conflicts.

Requirements:

• legally entitled to work in the Czech Republic,

• college or University degree, preferably in Performing/Theatre Arts or a related field

• fluent English,

• commitment and enthusiasm for working with children,

• effective time management and prioritization skills,

• collaborative and creative mindset, with an affinity for problem-solving,

• strong passion for the development and education of youth.

Preferred skills:

• teaching experience with the target age group (5-12 years old)

• knowledge of the Czech language
