Czech MPs will debate a vote of confidence for the ANO–SPD–Motorists coalition next week, expected to pass. Alza doubles net profit to CZK 2.3 billion
Czech online retailer Alza doubled its net profit to CZK 2.3 billion in 2024, with revenue rising a third to CZK 61 billion, according to its annual report. Founder Aleš Zavoral cited a focus on profit over rapid growth. The company expanded staff to nearly 3,100 and opened new stores in Hungary and Austria, while sales of electronics, automotive goods, cosmetics, and pet products increased.

Video shows officers drifting on snowy Prague lot
Prague police are investigating footage showing a marked patrol car drifting on a snow-covered parking lot near Strahov stadium. The maneuver, banned on public roads, was captured on mobile phones and shared online. Police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová said internal control is reviewing the incident, including the video’s authenticity. If confirmed, the conduct would be deemed unacceptable and could lead to disciplinary action under service regulations.

Brno parade embraces Monty Python’s silly walk
About 280 fans of Monty Python marched through Brno’s historic center on Friday, performing exaggerated silly walks inspired by the British comedy group’s famous 1970 sketch. The annual event marked its 13th year, drawing amused onlookers despite snowy conditions. Organizers hope to grow the event and one day welcome actor John Cleese, who starred in the original sketch.
