A new picnic and barbecue area has opened in Prague’s Stromovka park, creating a new space for people to relax outdoors and enjoy nature.

The area, created by architect Martina Forejtová from the Land05 studio, features communal oak benches, tables and a grill area for guests.

The new space is set on top of a concrete area with leaf and branch prints from the local fauna. The architect worked to collect leaves from the trees and then built them into the design of the concrete.

“The natural decor underlines the character of the place,” architect Martina Forejtová from the landscape architecture studio Land05, told Lidovky.cz.

“I must say that I like similar unique places that respond to the given environment and context, and I can’t imagine a good realization without them.”

The entire picnic area was built with minimal maintenance in mind, so it wouldn’t have to be cleaned so often to survive.

The picnic area is open in the park between the railway line and the Vltava and welcomes its first guests this week.

In the future, the studio hopes to build at least four more similar areas if this picnic area proves popular.
