Czechia faces a week of changing autumn weather, with daytime temperatures generally staying below 15 degrees Celsius, a brief warm spell on Wednesday and rain expected across much of the country by Thursday. Forecasters also anticipate a colder start to November, with nighttime temperatures approaching freezing.

According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), the week of Oct. 19–25 will bring alternating sunshine and cloudy skies, with the heaviest rainfall expected overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Showers are also possible over the weekend.

The institute's latest four-week outlook suggests temperatures will remain close to or slightly below seasonal averages through mid-November, with daytime highs falling to around 6 degrees Celsius during the first half of next month.

Warm Wednesday brings rain across Czechia

Monday and Tuesday will bring relatively dry conditions across most of the country, with occasional sunshine and cloudy periods. Afternoon temperatures will generally range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, although western Bohemia could see highs of just 9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Mornings will remain chilly, with temperatures between 2 and 7 degrees Celsius. In areas with clear skies and little wind, temperatures could fall to freezing.

Wednesday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, but significant regional differences are forecast.

Afternoon temperatures could climb to between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius, potentially reaching 20 degrees Celsius in Moravia and Silesia. Western Bohemia, meanwhile, is expected to remain considerably cooler, with highs around 12 degrees Celsius.

Fog will develop in parts of the country, particularly in western regions, before clouds increase and rain spreads eastward. Moravia and Silesia may not see significant rainfall until late Wednesday evening or overnight.

Thursday will begin with rain in many areas, but conditions should gradually improve from the west as the day progresses. Temperatures will range from 9 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Friday is expected to bring more sunshine and highs of 12 to 17 degrees Celsius, although isolated showers remain possible. Early morning temperatures could again fall to freezing or slightly below in some locations.

The weekend will be mostly cloudy, with occasional sunny intervals and scattered showers. Afternoon highs are unlikely to exceed 13 degrees Celsius, while some areas may experience near-freezing temperatures overnight.

November forecast points to colder days and frosty nights

The ČHMÚ's long-range forecast, covering Oct. 19 to Nov. 15, indicates that Czechia will experience average to slightly below-average temperatures over the next four weeks.

A more pronounced cooling trend is expected in early November. During the first half of the month, nighttime lows are forecast to approach zero, while daytime temperatures could reach only around 6 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall over the four-week period is expected to remain close to seasonal averages, although this week could be wetter than usual.

Meteorologists estimate that approximately 19 millimeters of precipitation could fall across Czechia this week, with the greatest accumulation expected during the midweek rain.

Subsequent weeks are forecast to be drier, with weekly rainfall totals of around 5 to 10 millimeters.

The longer-range outlook remains subject to change, but the latest forecast suggests that Czechia's relatively mild October weather will gradually give way to more typical late-autumn conditions as November approaches.
