Czech Republic has added Tunisia to its list of safe destinations for tourists

Tourists traveling to and from the popular vacation destination will not need to submit a test or undergo quarantine as of Monday

Prague, July 30 (CTK) – From Monday, the Czech Republic will add Tunisia among its list of safe countries in terms of coronavirus infection risk. This means that tourists traveling to and from both countries will not need a negative COVID-19 test, Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek (Social Democrats, CSSD) tweeted Thursday.

Only Tunisians who arrive in the Czech Republic for purposes of work will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test.

The decision was a reaction to Tunisia putting the Czech Republic on its list of safe countries on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of July, Tunisia has also been on the joint European list of safe countries.

However, the Czech Republic wanted to open travel only to the countries that were a significant tourist destination for Czechs and that would enable the entry of Czech citizens without restrictions.

Since the beginning of this week, the Czech map of safe countries has included all EU countries. European tourist travel and the return of Czech from holidays in these countries are not complicated by any restrictions.

Out of the non-European countries, citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand have been able to travel to the Czech Republic without the necessity of submitting coronavirus test results or being quarantined.

However, restrictions are still valid for the foreigners who come to the Czech Republic for work.

Foreign workers from Sweden, Luxembourg, Romania, Bulgaria, and Portugal must submit a negative COVID-19 test. The same rule applies to Tunisian workers.
