Warm up for Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode's Memento Mori World Tour warms up with an official party at Prague's Futurum Music Bar on Feb. 23 between two O2 Arena concerts. The event offers fans a prelude to the iconic British band’s highly anticipated Prague performances, uniting Depeche Mode enthusiasts across Europe. Following the performance on Feb. 24, fans are invited to a special meeting at Křížovnické náměstí from 3 p.m. that will culminate in a one-of-a-kind event: a photo shoot on Prague’s iconic Charles Bridge.

Move to spectacular sounds

The Spectaculare audiovisual festival is set to commence on Feb. 23 in Prague. It will showcase 16 diverse events until March 28, featuring international artists and spanning multiple venues where avant-garde performances, workshops, and film screenings contribute to a rich audiovisual experience. The opening event will feature Loscil & Lawrence English at the Church of St. Simon and Judas.

Check out a Canadian singer-songwriter

Canadian singer-songwriter Dan Mangan will perform a solo concert at Café V lese, Prague, on Feb. 24. Following a joint concert with the Lumineers, Mangan’s sixth album, Being Somewhere, promises an intimate experience, described as a dialogue with a close friend offering genuine advice.

Support Ukraine citywide films, events

On Feb. 24, Bio Oko will show the documentary When Spring Came to Bucha, which features personal stories from the war in Ukraine filmed in the first weeks after the liberation of the Bucha region. The doc follows several protagonists as they deal with the physical and psychological consequences of the Russian invasion. The film will be shown with both Czech and English subtitles.

20 Days in Mariupol will screen as part of Kinowar film cycle, Feb. 22-29

The Day for Ukraine, scheduled for Feb. 24 in Prague, includes a march that will culminate in a public rally in Old Town with a speech by President Petr Pavel. The day concludes with a concert at Karlín Forum, featuring Czech acts Chinaski and Pokáč. Proceeds go toward the purchase of medical equipment for the Ukrainian army. A free children’s concert is also being organized at Forum Karlín.

Now open in Prague, the photo exhibition My World at Prague’s 400 ASA Gallery runs until March 6. Organized by the non-profit Nová škola in collaboration with 400 ASA, the exhibit features photos depicting life in socially excluded areas through children’s perspectives. Also opening this month is a new exhibit at Museum Kampa devoted to abstract painter Milan Maur’s artful observations of tree branches’ shadows, snowflake patterns, river fluctuations, insect rhythms, and falling leaves.

Go for a ride at Czechia's oldest fun fair

Matějská Pout, the renowned Czech spring pilgrimage destination turned fun fair, opens at Výstaviště Prague on Feb. 24 and runs until April 14. Attendees can explore a haunted castle, shooting range, carousels, swings, bouncy castles, and more. Originating in 1595, the pilgrimage, dedicated to patron saint Matěj, today features amusement park rides and refreshments.

See inventive theater across Prague

The 22nd edition of the Malá Inventura Theater Festival will run through Feb. 28, 2024, in Prague and feature thirty theatrical events on 18 stages, a retrospective of outstanding premieres, fostering artistic diversity, addressing current issues, and shaping the landscape of independent theater in the Czech Republic. The theme for 2024 focuses on exploring landscape and identity and urging viewers to question the status quo. Many of the performances are language-barrier-free.

Curry up to a unique pop-up

Hell Smoke BBQ and Mutant Fast Food & Catering are hosting a joint Saturday pop-up with Mutant Fast Food’s renowned owner, Ringo, and his legendary food truck. The eight-hour public event offers two smokin' hot meals: Lanzhou, Chinese beef soup, and Beef Rendang curry from Indonesia. Mutant Fast Food, a pioneer in Czechia’s food truck scene since 2015, boasts a diverse menu focusing on Asian soups and umami-rich fusions. Pre-ordering is required.

Club and brunch

On Feb. 24 Ankali presents Kosmic Care x Breakfast in Smoke, a daytime event where attendees gather for brunch, mimosas, and dancing in sync with their “human circadian rhythms.” Cosmic Scout collaborates for a breakfast curated by the Cosmic Chef, offering vegetarian and vegan focaccia sandwiches. The buffet includes coffee, juice, yogurt, muesli, and fruit.
