British band Depeche Mode is gearing up for a spectacular return to Prague, and this time, fans are adding a unique twist to the performance. Set to light up O2 Arena on Feb. 22 and 24 as part of their Memento Mori tour, the band is not just offering concerts but an immersive Weekender experience organized by their dedicated local fan base.

The upcoming Depeche Mode concerts in Prague are not just about the music; they are about community, celebration, and capturing a moment in time. The band drew local fame for their 1988 Prague concert ahead of the Velvet Revolution, and have only grown in popularity in the 35 years since.

The Depeche Mode Weekender 2024 event, coined as the successor to the summer 2023 edition that drew fans from across Europe, promises an array of activities to enhance the fan experience between the Prague concerts in February.

Following the Feb. 22 concert, the Weekender festivities will begin with a warm-up party at Futurum Music Bar on Feb. 23. Ahead of the next concert on Feb. 24, fans are invited to a special meeting at Křížovnické náměstí from 3 p.m. that will culminate in a one-of-a-kind event: a photo shoot on Prague's iconic Charles Bridge.

Inspired by Anton Corbijn's legendary black-and-white photographs of the band taken in communist Prague in 1988, this unique fan initiative is an international celebration of the Depeche Mode's enduring local legacy. The Charles Bridge photo shoot builds on last year's edition at Old Town Square.

"For me personally, the driving force is the scene itself, the community that has shaped me since the eighties. And, of course, the band for which I've been traveling the world for 31 years," Filip Macháček, the main organizer of the Weekender event and a passionate Depeche Mode fan, says through a press release.

"The actual idea of the Weekender came about in 2023 in connection with Depeche Mode's summer performance. We managed to fill up the Roxy club in Prague for two evenings, and a joint photo shoot of the fans on the Old Town Square had a huge international response."

The Depeche Mode Weekender event next month will culminate with an after-party at Roxy following the Feb. 24 concert. The extensive weekend experience promises a unique blend of music, nostalgia, and camaraderie, offering both local fans and visitors from abroad an opportunity to be part of something truly extraordinary.
