More than 70 percent of employees in Czechia report high levels of burnout, according to the Social Security Administration (ČSSZ). The result: a rising wave of sick leave driven by psychological overload and depression that experts and employers are finally taking seriously.

Some 32,000 workers officially stepped away from their jobs last year due to mental health reasons: a third more than a decade ago, ČSSZ data shows.

And yet, many fail to seek help. A STADA ČR survey found over 40 percent of Czechs report mental health problems, but just 6 percent seek therapy. Distrust, cost, stigma, and a shortage of professionals—with long waits for care—are key barriers.
