Czech Republic coronavirus updates, June 2: just 34 new cases Monday, travel opened from June 15

The Czech Republic reported only 34 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, continuing a downward trend of new instances of coronavirus in the country over the past week, according to the latest data published by the Czech Health Ministry this morning.

The ratio of new cases to tests conducted fell to .67% yesterday after a ten-day high of 1.81% on Sunday.

One new death was reported on Monday, the first since May 28 and the third since May 25. The number of recoveries also rose by one according to this morning’s data.

In total, there have now been 9,308 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic since the outbreak began in mid-March.

There has been a total of 321 deaths and 6,642 recoveries, meaning the number of people currently known to be infected with COVID-19 in the Czech Republic is 2,345.

447,957 tests have been conducted since the start of the outbreak, and 126 patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated in hospitals.

From June 15, the Czech Republic will allow residents to travel without restrictions or the need for a negative COVID-19 test to 19 “safe” countries that include Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Croatia, Iceland, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Germany, Norway, Poland, Austria, Romania, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

The same will be allowed for Czech residents returning from trips to “medium-risk” countries including Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.

Vojtěch noted, however, that while these are official recommendations from the Czech side, some restrictions may still apply in the destination countries.

The Czech Republic will continue to require a negative COVID-19 test for residents returning “high-risk” countries including the UK and Sweden.
