There were 40 new cases of COVID-19 in the Czech Republic reported on Monday, according to the latest figures published by the Czech Health Ministry this morning.

There were 3,621 COVID-19 tests performed across the Czech Republic on Tuesday, a significantly higher number than were performed on Sunday (1,099), though the number of confirmed cases rose only slightly (from 33 to 40).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in mid-March, there have been a total of 10,064 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic, with the number exceeding 10,000 for the first time yesterday. In total, the Czech Republic has now conducted more than 500,000 tests.

Over the past six weeks, the daily increase in new COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic has been consistently low, at around 30-60 new cases per day. Only once during that span has the number exceeded 100.

Worldwide, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has now exceeded eight million. More than a quarter of those cases, over two million, are in the United States.

To date, there have been 7,300 COVID-19 recoveries in the Czech Republic, and 330 COVID-19-related deaths.

The number of confirmed active cases is now 2,436, with 128 of those cases being treated in Czech hospitals.

As of yesterday, return travel to the Czech Republic from most European countries is now possible.

Prague’s Václav Havel Airport has now resumed routes to 55 locations, all in Europe, reaching about one-third of their usual traffic for this time of the year.

The Czech Ministry of the Interior has issued an updated map of their “traffic light” travel system, which allows for free travel from green countries while some restrictions are still in place for orange and red countries.

Citizens and residents of Great Britain and Belgium need to meet specific criteria and provide a negative COVID-19 test to enter the Czech Republic, while Czech citizens and residents are able to freely return to the Czech Republic from those countries without a negative test.

All travelers from Sweden and Portugal to to provide a negative COVID-19 test to enter the Czech Republic, and entry is barred for citizens and residents of those countries except in certain cases.

While most other European states are also easing restrictions as of this week, however, its best to check with each destination country to make sure you meet the requirements for entry.
