Russia summons Czech ambassador to Moscow

Following last night's incendiary events at the Russian House in Dejvice, the Russian Embassy will ask Czech authorities to strengthen security measures for properties and employees of the Russian Federation in the country, it said on social media. The Russian Foreign Ministry also summoned the Czech ambassador to Moscow over the attack, which it described as a "barbaric act".

Over 30 cm of snow fall in Czech mountains

More than 20 cm of snow fell in multiple locations in the Beskydy mountains and White Carpathians since Thursday morning, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) said. The biggest precipitation was recorded in Lysá hora, in Moravia-Silesia, where nearly 40 cm of snow has now accumulated. Temperatures are expected to rise over the week-end, although some snowfall can still be expected in the mountains.

Czechs heavily divided on future of country

A new survey by the STEM agency found that about 32 percent of the Czech population expects the situation in the country to improve, and the exact same share thinks it will get worse. The remaining third don't expect any major change. Supporters of the ruling ANO party are significantly more optimistic than most, while opposition voters swing the exact opposite way.

Police on the hunt for axe-wielding murder suspect

Police in Prague announced on X they were searching for a man described as a dangerous drug addict with a criminal record who may be carrying knives and an axe. The 46-year-old man is wanted in connection with the discovery, yesterday, of the charred remains of a woman in a house in Prague 4. Authorities urge people not to confront him in any way but to immediately call the emergency line 158 if spotted.
