The Czech government is preparing a new economic strategy aimed at boosting growth and competitiveness, with a strong emphasis on attracting foreign workers to fill gaps in key sectors.

The strategy comes as the number of foreign employees in the country continues to rise sharply. Figures from the Labour Office show that by December 2025, nearly 935,000 foreigners were working in Czechia, up 11 percent from the previous year. Foreign workers now make up almost 18 percent of the workforce, concentrated mainly in Prague, Central Bohemia, and South Moravia.
