Bohemia Sings: Offering Music Together

Rebecca Riisness is a licensee of Music Togetjer, an international music program for children and families. Due to the current state of emergency in the the Czech Republic, the instructor is adapting her Prague branch, called Bohemia Sings!, to the new normal by helping students keep the beat online. Future classes will likely be held online but in the meantime Riisness is posting weekly Facebook videos that appeal to anyone who’s looking for a musical pick me up. The Little Gym Praha

Beloved by many local expat families for their gymnastics-based development programs for kids age 4 months to 12 years, the Prague arm of this worldwide franchise has taken its entertaining tumbling and acrobatics challenges and scaled them to living room size. Instructors are currently posting videos with tips for fun activities for families as well as fitness challenges you can try at home. Follow the Little Gym Praha on Facebook.

Prague Youth Theatre

For families staying in the Czech Republic over the summer, in August PYT will offer four, week-long summer camps open to all children aged 8-13 years. Each week the students will devise and perform a brand-new play from scratch. To enroll your student see their website; you can also visit their blog for suggested drama-related activities and resources for kids during the shutdown. Czech-Taiwanese Association

The Czech Taiwanese Association has moved its language courses online. Courses take place via Zoom, are suitable for a range of ages, and feature games, storytelling, and play in Mandarin. Free classes take place Monday (9:45-10:45, 16:00-16:30), Tuesday (10:30-11:30, and 16:00-16:30), and Thursday (9:45-10:45 and 16:00-16:30). Time slots at 9:45 on Monday and Thursday are for year 1 “zhuyin”, the remaining time slots are for Mandarin games with the exception of 10:30-11:30 on Tuesday and 16:00-16:30 Thursday which are for storytelling for all ages. For more information visit the group’s Facebook page or website or write to info@taiwanese.cz for the schedule.

Draw Planet

During normal times Draw Planet offers a range of drawing, painting, and design lessons for kids and adults in their colorful studio in Karlin. During the current state of emergency they are brightening up your social media feed instead by encouraging kids to continue creating amazing things with their ongoing Kid’s Sketch Marathon. While the instructions are in Czech the visual instructions are enough to encourage children to attempt a bit of drawing each day and share the results with the rest of its community.
