Following Monday’s government meeting, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš announced he had purchased a globe, a very expensive one. The revelation came in response to a question about whether he could clearly say that Czechia stands behind Greenland. He said he could not.

Enter the globe: a CZK 15,000 purchase to help the PM justify sitting out the EU’s much costlier game of high-stakes Risk in the Arctic this week.

“Russian super-missiles Oreshnik would fly to the White House in 26 minutes and pass over Greenland at the 11th minute,” Babiš said, adding he understands Trump’s arguments about the island’s strategic importance.
