A star-studded lineup and a new venue.
On its 10-year anniversary milestone, the Metronome Prague festival has gone all out to cement its place as one of Prague’s top musical events of the year.
Metronome Prague in jubilee mode
Held for the first time at Letňany airport, the festival runs from June 19-21 this week with global stars headlining the eagerly anticipated, multi-day celebration.
“It is wonderful that artists of such stature are returning for our jubilee,” said festival founder David Gaydečka. “We take this as a confirmation that Metronome Prague has an exceptional atmosphere and a strong place not only on the Czech but also European cultural scene.”
Over 30 bands and artists are set to perform on three stages throughout the weekend, with tickets going from CZK 2,490 for single-day entries or CZK 4,190 for full-festival passes.
Back after eight years, British singer-songwriter Tom Odell will be the main event of a Friday program primarily focused on younger audiences, with Sweden’s very own Lykke Li and COBRAH among other top acts.
David Gaydečka Metronome Prague co-founderNick Cave is preparing an incredible, more than two-hour-long show.
Nick Cave returns to Prague
The festival will only gain in intensity on Saturday, with Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers, American psychedelic rock band The Flaming Lips or first-timer Spanish singer Judeline among those hyping up the crowds throughout a day culminating with none other than Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in the evening.
“After Nick’s first performance at Metronome Prague a few years ago, he asked us: ‘Where did you find such an amazing audience?’ So we invited him to join us for our 10th anniversary celebrations, and we’re thrilled he accepted,” said festival co-founder David Gaydečka.
More rejoicing awaits festival goers on Sunday, including English indie rock band Razorlight, Icelandic folk-rock act Of Monsters and Men and, last but not least, legendary former frontman of The Police Sting wrapping up the three-day event on the main stage.
