The Odyssey is breaking global box office records this weekend, and Prague’s Cinema City Flora IMAX is one of only three locations in the EU and 40 worldwide screening Christopher Nolan’s epic in the IMAX 70mm format in which it was filmed.

IMAX 70mm screenings in Prague over the next two weeks are mostly sold out, but check the Cinema City website on Tuesdays, when schedules are typically updated and tickets for future showtimes may be released.

- July 20: John Woo's classic Hong Kong action film Hard Boiled plays with English subtitles as part of Kino Aero's Pop Culture Milestones series.
- July 21: Swedish silent epic The Saga of Gösta Berling, starring Greta Garbo, screens at Edison Filmhub with live music by Prague Enigmatic Orchestra.
- July 22: Following tonight's World Cup final, catch The Match, a new Spanish documentary that charts the 1986 "Match of the Century," with English subtitles at Edison Filmhub.
- July 23: A newly-restored version of Věra Chytilová's Czech classic Tainted Horseplay plays with English subtitles at Kino Atlas.
- July 23: Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli classic Spirited Away plays with English subtitles at Bio Oko.
- July 24–26: Heatwave Horror at Edison Filmhub brings a three-day festival of cult classics, psychological thrillers, creature features, and new genre releases, with English-friendly screenings and discussions.
- July 24: Bio Oko celebrates Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar with a double feature including his 1986 film Matador and his latest, Bitter Christmas, both with English subtitles.
- July 25: Letní kino Kinská screens the silent horror classic Nosferatu with a live musical accompaniment as part of the Das Sommerkino festival.
- July 25: Pair a themed cocktail with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade at Kino Kavalírka as part of the cinema's Film & Drink series.
🇨🇿 Czech Cinema Spotlight
Only Beautiful Things to Look At, Ivan Ostrochovský’s drama set in 1980s communist Czechoslovakia, explores the legacy of the state-mandated sterilization of Roma women through the eyes of an ambitious surgeon (played by Anna Geislerová) forced to confront the human cost of the system she serves.
Debuting in competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, The Prague Reporter called the film “a thoughtful and deeply unsettling examination of institutional racism and personal complicity.” Only Beautiful Things to Look At is now screening with English subtitles in Prague at Kino Světozor, Kino Aero, and Kino Lucerna.
📺 The Streaming Watchlist
Ride or Die, a new action-comedy series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, brings Prague to the screen as the setting for a European chase filled with assassins, secrets, and unlikely friendship. The eight-episode series was shot entirely in Czechia last year, with production making extensive use of Prague locations.
Created by Tessa Coates and featuring episodes directed by Peyton Reed (Ant-Man), the series follows two best friends whose lives are turned upside down when one discovers the other is a secret international assassin. All eight episodes of Ride or Die are now streaming on Prime Video.
- Will Ferrell stars as a washed-up golfer in the new comedy series The Hawk, with all 10 episodes now streaming on Netflix.
- Anya Taylor-Joy, Annette Bening, and Timothy Olyphant star in the crime series Lucky on Apple TV+; new episodes drop on Wednesdays.
- After three seasons, teen romance Heartstopper gets a new film charting the characters' lives after high school in Heartstopper Forever, now streaming on Netflix.
