Winter may have come to Westeros with the premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones last night (tonight in the Czech Republic), but Prague will bid adieu to chilly weather this week as Easter weekend approaches.

In Prague, rising temperatures are forecast to hit 20 °C by Thursday, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, after a cold spell saw a dip to around freezing late last week.

On Monday afternoon, Prague saw clear skies and highs of around 14 °C. The trend will continue throughout the rest of the week, with daily highs incrementally increasing before reaching 18 to 20 °C on Thursday.

The warm weather is expected to hold over the four-day Easter weekend holiday in the Czech Republic, from Good Friday on April 19 until Easter Monday on the 22nd.

If you’re in Prague over the extended weekend, the warmer weather makes for an ideal trip to visit one of the Czech capital’s Easter markets – just as atmospheric as their Christmas counterparts, but far less crowded.

If that’s not your thing, you might want to check out one of the city’s popular beer gardens, which should by now be in full spring swing.
