Police searched aircraft linked to nine flights at Prague’s Václav Havel Airport on Friday after another round of anonymous bomb threats. No explosives or other dangerous or suspicious objects were found.

The threats concerned four arriving flights and five departures, airport spokeswoman Denisa Hejtmánková told ČTK. Passengers left the aircraft before police bomb-disposal specialists carried out inspections on the apron.

Police announced around 1 p.m. that the searches were complete, operations had been fully restored and the additional security measures had ended. The airport said the checks had not disrupted its overall operations.

Second consecutive day of threats in Prague

The latest threats came a day after police checked four aircraft arriving in Prague from Dublin, Glasgow, Athens and Newcastle. Thursday’s threats also targeted airport premises.

The airport’s crisis team handled that incident, and subsequent searches found no explosives or other dangerous objects.

On Friday, police said they were again responding to threats involving multiple aircraft, this time covering both arrivals and departures.

“In cooperation with Prague Airport, we have adopted the necessary security measures with minimal impact on the airport’s normal operations,” police said in an update on X shortly after 11 a.m.

About two hours later, they confirmed the negative search results and the end of the security measures.

The case is being investigated by the National Centre Against Terrorism, Extremism and Cybercrime, known by its Czech abbreviation NCTEKK. Authorities have not identified who was responsible.

European airports face repeated alerts

The Prague incidents form part of a series of anonymous bomb threats affecting flights across Europe this week.

Dozens of services have been targeted since the beginning of the week. More than 20 flights were affected on Thursday alone, with further threats reported Friday.

Responses have included additional security inspections, flight diversions and temporary airport closures. Many aircraft receiving threats nevertheless landed safely at their scheduled destinations.

Authorities in the affected countries said searches following the earlier alerts had found no suspicious objects. It remains unclear whether the incidents are connected or who is behind them.

For Prague passengers, Friday’s checks have now concluded. Although nine flights were subject to inspections, the airport reported no wider disruption to its operations.
