Prague-based Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has confirmed a cyberattack involving unauthorized access to its company systems and data.

The studio said it was working with cybersecurity experts to secure its systems, investigate the incident and determine its full impact. It is also coordinating with the relevant authorities.

“This is a serious incident for Warhorse Studios and everyone affected,” CEO Martin Frývaldský said in an official statement. “Our immediate priority is to secure our systems, establish the full extent of the breach, and take the necessary steps to protect our employees, partners, and community.”

Investigation underway into the breach

Warhorse’s statement confirms that attackers accessed company systems and data, rather than describing only an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry.

The studio is still assessing the consequences. Its immediate response centers on securing its infrastructure, establishing the extent of the intrusion and protecting those potentially affected.

“We are dedicating the resources needed to address this situation and will communicate further information as soon as we responsibly can,” Frývaldský said.

Warhorse has not identified the attackers or specified what information was accessed. The statement also does not establish whether employee, partner or player information was among the affected data.

The company said it would not conduct interviews or provide further comments while the investigation continues. It plans to release additional verified information when available.

A major name in Czech game development

Warhorse is among Czechia’s largest game developers and is based in Prague’s Palmovka neighborhood. It belongs to the Swedish Embracer group.

The studio became internationally known through Kingdom Come: Deliverance, its historical role-playing series set in the Czech lands in the early 15th century.

Its second installment, released in 2025, received positive responses from players and critics. The series has also encouraged interest in visiting Czech locations depicted in the games, connecting the studio’s international audience with the country’s historical landscapes.

Warhorse is currently developing two open-world role-playing games: a further Kingdom Come installment and a game set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth.

The studio has not announced any changes to those projects in connection with the incident. Its statement focuses on the investigation and security response, with the operational impact still being assessed.
