Czech RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance II nominated for Game of the Year

The latest game from Prague-based Warhorse Studios is up for multiple awards at The Game Awards 2025, including the prestigious Game of the Year.

Czech role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has been nominated for Game of the Year at the 12th annual Game Awards, set for Dec. 11 in Los Angeles. The nomination highlights the growing international recognition of Czech game development, with the title competing in multiple categories against some of the biggest names in the industry.

For players, developers, and fans worldwide, the nomination underscores the creative and technical achievements of Czech-made games, which continue to influence trends in gaming culture, community engagement, and digital content consumption.

Strong competition in multiple categories

The full list of nominations across 29 categories shows Kingdom Come: Deliverance II also contending for Best RPG and Best Narrative, alongside the top prize. For Game of the Year, it will be competing against Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Donkey Kong Bananza.

In addition to the Game Awards jury’s evaluation, fan votes will contribute 10 percent of the final results. Fans can vote for their picks across all categories through Dec. 10 at the Game Awards website.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, developed by Prague-based Warhorse Studios, offers an open-world experience set in 15th-century Central Europe. Players take on the role of Jindřich of Skalitz, navigating quests and shaping the world based on in-game decisions.

Developers say the combat system was redesigned to remain authentic to historical swordplay while becoming more accessible to new players. The game has quickly become one of the top-selling Czech games ever produced since its release earlier this year, receiving widespread international recognition.

Czech developers gain international recognition

The nomination marks a milestone for Czech game development, reflecting the industry’s increasing influence on global entertainment. The game has received near-universal acclaim, with ratings from game reviewers praising its narrative depth and immersive RPG mechanics.

For fans, the recognition signals new opportunities to engage with the game's new content, from in-game expansions to community events. The latest DLC, Legacy of the Forge, adds weapons and missions that expand the story, keeping both casual and hardcore players invested.

At this year's Game Awards, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leads the nominations with 12 nods, the most ever. Other prominent nominees across various categories include Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yōtei, Hades II, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Analysts note that these nominations often influence game sales and the direction of indie and AAA game development alike.

The ceremony will broadcast digitally on Dec. 11 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. In addition the the awards, viewers can expect new trailers and exclusive game previews. Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorites before the event.
