Spa culture in the Czech lands and central Europe can be traced back to medieval and perhaps even Roman times when health-seekers visited natural springs in search of cures for a number of ailments.

Nowadays, the country’s top resorts and spa hotels have reinvented spa services to cater to overworked, modern spa-goers seeking both relaxation and restorative treatments.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Czech spa industry has seen a significant slowdown in recent months. According to preliminary reports, the country’s spas could face losses of up to 50 percent this year.

In light of the pandemic, spas and hotels, as well as the Czech government which hopes to give the struggling industry a helping hand, are encouraging domestic visits to spas with steep discounts, package deals, and more. If you’re looking to keep your summer holidays local, laidback, and affordable this year there’s no better time to visit a Czech spa.

Vouchers & Discounts

In addition to hotel discounts, cities are trying to draw in visitors as well.

Starting July 1, Czechs over the age of 18 years old will be able to apply for vouchers for spa visits in the Czech Republic. If you spend at least six nights in a spa facility and get at least five procedures done, you will be eligible for a 4,000 CZK voucher.

The vouchers are meant to boost the local spa community, which has been deeply impacted by the loss of foreign tourists. Vouchers can be used until the end of the year.

FEATURED EMPLOYERS

In addition, the town of Karlovy Vary, a tourist hotspot, is offering discount vouchers for stays in the spa town.

Ten million crowns will go towards these vouchers, valid from May 25 to September 30. The Vary Vouchers offer three types of discounts: a 1,000 CZK discount for a minimum three-night stay with a reservation value of 3,000 CZK; a 2,500 CZK discount for a minimum four-night stay with a reservation value of 9,000 CZK; a 5,000 CZK discount for a spa stay of at least nights with a value of 19,000 CZK or more.
