In the world of wellness, bigger usually isn’t better. Most people want an intimate place where they can switch off, stay a while, and not feel rushed from one treatment to the next. But in the Czech mountains, a newly opened spa complex is expanding wellness treatments at a larger scale.
Set in the Králický Sněžník area of Dolní Morava, less than a three-hour drive from Prague, Melori aqua & spa is trying to do something bigger, with a focus on sustainability.
“In Dolní Morava we understood a long time ago that we needed to reorient ourselves to year-round operation,” explains Tomáš Drápal, the company’s sales director. “So we built a year-round wellness center for our guests and the general public.”
This new complex adds a touch modernity to Central Europe's rich, historic spa culture, bringing together a full water world, family-friendly attractions, and one of the largest sauna experiences in one place. Here's how you can spend an entire day or weekend moving between pools, steam rooms, and outdoor terraces, without running out of things to do.
A sauna world that goes far beyond the basics
Let’s start with the hottest, biggest (and we mean literally biggest) feature. With a capacity to hold up to 400 people at once, the sauna zone positions itself as one of the largest of its kind in Czechia.
Within a massive 7,400 square meters, guests can experience themed saunas, including a herbal sauna infused with dried mountain herbs, and a honey sauna with propolis essences, before moving into steam rooms infused with salt and other natural elements.
One steam room, built around a stone totem from the local valley, recreates constellations above Dolní Morava, adding a more immersive, design-led layer to the experience. Kneipp baths and heated relaxation rooms break up the circuit, while a health bar with refreshments keeps things grounded between sessions.
A large log cabin sauna, constructed with reclaimed wood taken from a 17th-century Czech barn, hosts guided rituals, where sauna masters lead sessions that combine heat, scent, and timing in a structured format. Those seeking more privacy can book an exclusive soak session in a 980-kilogram stone bathtub, imported all the way from Bali.
Water zones built for staying, not just dipping in
This is not a quick in-and-out day spa. Melori designed its water areas to be large enough to hold your attention for hours.
The main experience includes a pool deck of more than 550 square meters, with massage jets, loungers, and open sightlines toward the surrounding Králický Sněžník mountains. From there, you can swim straight outside into a heated pool with panoramic views of nature stretching to the Polish border.
Inside, pools include massage benches, water jets, and geysers, while two dedicated swimming lanes allow for uninterrupted laps alongside relaxation zones. The outdoor swim-through pool runs year-round, letting you float directly from indoor warmth into open mountain air.
For those who haven’t quite harnessed the idea of relaxation time, there are also three water slides, each stretching over 90 meters. These light water park elements add a more active element to the experience, ensuring everyone can get what they need out of the trip.
A setup that works for both adults and families
Most other spa experiences are adults-only, because active kids are anything but zen. Melori designed its wellness complex to split experiences without forcing a compromise.
Water cannons, slides, a splash-filled water play area, and a giant mammoth-shaped fountain offer plenty to explore. The children’s spray park also includes a “water forest” and interactive elements where water reacts to movement, designed as a fully immersive play zone rather than a basic paddling area.
This one-of-a-kind children’s zone playfully incorporates the property’s mascot, Mamutík, with additional local design motifs such as thyme, Jeseníky bluebells, and forest fruits.
For adults trying to maximize their “me” time, the sauna zone and relaxation areas are clearly separated and designed for quieter use (guests must be 15 years or older in these areas). Couples and groups of friends can coexist at the resort at the same time with younger guests, without feeling like they are in a family water park the entire time.
Built into a full mountain escape
The spa is part of the wider Dolní Morava resort, which already draws visitors for skiing, hiking, and outdoor attractions like the Cloud Trail and pedestrian-friendly Sky Bridge 721. While the spa itself does not offer rooms for overnight stays, accommodation options are nearby, including Vista Apartments. The resort collaborates with this property and has designed packages that suit the needs of guests.
Melori aqua & spa is positioned as a long-term investment in the Dolní Morava region, supporting stable, year-round employment through the wider resort operated by Sněžník a.s., which employs 406 permanent staff and 180 seasonal workers, according to owner Jiří Rulíšek. By extending tourism beyond the winter season, the project helps sustain local jobs and businesses.
This is not a spa tucked into a city block. The design leans heavily on its surroundings, with open views, natural materials, and outdoor zones that keep you connected to the landscape. Warm pools, cool mountain air, wood, stone, and water all work together to shape the experience that is sure to leave guests feeling refreshed
