Retailer Lidl will open its first outlet store in Czechia early next year, offering customers substantial discounts on a wide range of products. The store will be located in Štěrboholy Retail Park, east of Prague, near the Fashion Arena Prague. This announcement comes at the same time as Lidl's ongoing annual clearance event at PVA Expo Letňany, which ends tomorrow (Dec. 21).

The Štěrboholy outlet is set to open on Jan. 2, providing discounts of 40 to 70 percent on items like kitchen appliances, tools, household goods, and clothing for adults and children. The store’s operating hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays.

According to Kateřina Štichová, Lidl’s corporate communications representative, outlet stores help the company manage inventory efficiently while offering customers access to products that might otherwise go unsold. Lidl aims to make discounted goods more accessible not only to Prague residents but also to shoppers from the wider Central Bohemian region.

Meanwhile, Lidl’s clearance event at PVA Expo Letňany in Prague 9 has attracted significant attention. Running since last Thursday, the event features discounts of up to 80 percent on select items. It will be open until the end of tomorrow.

The 4,000-square-meter venue has welcomed thousands of bargain hunters, with each visitor required to use a shopping cart (limited to two people per cart). Entry is free, and the stock is replenished daily to ensure availability. However, organizers caution that visitors may face queues of two hours or more due to the event’s popularity.

The upcoming Štěrboholy outlet is expected to build on this success, offering shoppers a permanent destination for discounted goods. Lidl, part of the German Schwarz Group alongside Kaufland, operates 320 stores and an e-shop in the Czech Republic, where it sells a variety of consumer products.
