Czechia will see brighter skies in the second half of this week, but the clearer weather will bring colder nights, with temperatures potentially falling to minus 7 degrees Celsius.

Daytime highs will remain around 10 degrees, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ). Occasional light rain is possible early in the week, turning to snow at higher elevations.

Freezing fog could affect mornings, while isolated drizzle overnight into Saturday may freeze on surfaces and create a light coating of ice.

Clouds linger before a brighter second half

Tuesday, Nov. 3, will be overcast to cloudy, with afternoon temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees. Occasional light rain could turn to snow above approximately 800 meters.

Wednesday will bring similar conditions, with highs of 6 to 10 degrees and the snow line rising to around 900 meters.

From Thursday through Sunday, the ČHMÚ weekly forecast predicts mostly clear or partly cloudy skies. The sunshine will offer limited additional warmth, however.

Thursday’s highs will reach 6 to 10 degrees, followed by 6 to 11 degrees Friday. Temperatures will ease again over the weekend, reaching 5 to 10 degrees Saturday and 4 to 9 degrees Sunday.

The forecast follows weekend snowfall across Czechia’s highest mountains. Praděd reported 15 centimeters Sunday morning, while Sněžka had 10 centimeters and Luční bouda 12.

Frost deepens toward Friday morning

The transition to clearer skies will be accompanied by increasingly cold nights.

Overnight into Tuesday, temperatures will generally stay between 1 and 5 degrees, although isolated locations could fall to minus 1. Lows could reach minus 2 overnight into Wednesday.

By Thursday morning, temperatures may drop as low as minus 5 in some valleys. The coldest conditions are forecast overnight into Friday, when lows could reach minus 7.

Isolated lows of minus 6 are possible Saturday morning, followed by minus 4 Sunday morning. These figures represent the colder locations in the national forecast, rather than temperatures expected everywhere.

Meteorologists also anticipate freezing fog. The main additional concern comes overnight into Saturday and early Saturday morning, when isolated drizzle could freeze and leave a thin layer of ice.

Looking further ahead, ČHMÚ’s monthly outlook suggests temperatures over the next four weeks will broadly follow seasonal averages. Rainfall and snowfall totals are expected to be average or slightly below average.

Relatively dry conditions are forecast through roughly the first third of November, followed by a somewhat wetter period with precipitation closer to normal for the season.
