Bestselling American author Dan Brown has returned to Prague, this time to watch his fictional world come to life. The writer recently spent several days in the Czech capital observing filming for Netflix's upcoming adaptation of The Secret of Secrets, the latest installment in his internationally successful Robert Langdon series.
Brown, who serves as a co-writer and executive producer on the eight-part series, visited Barrandov Studios and watched scenes being filmed on Charles Bridge before leaving Prague on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Prague takes center stage in Brown's latest mystery
Unlike many international productions that use Prague as a stand-in for other European cities, The Secret of Secrets is set in the Czech capital itself.
Published in September 2025, the novel follows Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon as he attempts to rescue a missing scientist and recover a manuscript containing discoveries that could transform humanity's understanding of consciousness.
The story draws heavily on Prague's history of alchemy, mysticism, and esoteric traditions, incorporating recognizable landmarks into its central mystery.
Brown has previously described the novel as a love letter to Prague, a city he considers particularly suited to the mysterious atmosphere of his books.
Speaking about his recent visit, the author expressed his excitement at seeing a story originally created in isolation transformed into a television production.
According to Czech news outlet Novinky, Brown toured sets constructed at Barrandov Studios and observed filming on Charles Bridge, accompanied by Petr Onufer, the Czech editor of his books.
Hollywood stars bring Robert Langdon to Prague
The Netflix adaptation stars Morgan Spector, known for his role in The Gilded Age, as Robert Langdon.
He takes over the character previously portrayed by Tom Hanks in the film adaptations of The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno.
British actress Rebecca Hall plays Katherine Solomon, a scientist whose disappearance sets the story's central mystery in motion.
The cast also includes Cherry Jones, Corey Stoll, Rob Delaney, and Abbey Lee.
The series is being developed by Brown alongside Carlton Cuse, whose previous television credits include Lost.
According to Netflix's official announcement, the production combines elements of science, ancient mysteries, and psychological suspense, bringing another chapter of the Langdon franchise to television.
Prague's landmarks become filming locations
Production began in Prague in September, with cameras appearing at several recognizable locations across the historic center.
Filming has taken place around Municipal House, the Jewish Quarter, Jan Palach Square, and Čechův most.
The Prague Reporter previously documented filming outside Municipal House, where Netflix captured scenes featuring Spector and Hall.
The production represents an unusual opportunity for Prague to appear on screen as itself, with its architecture and history playing a central role in the narrative rather than simply providing a picturesque backdrop.
The novel also features locations including the Klementinum, Petřín, and Charles Bridge, although not every location appearing in the book has been confirmed as a filming site.
When will the series be released?
Netflix has not yet announced an official premiere date for the adaptation.
The project marks another major international production filmed in Czechia, following the country's continued success in attracting foreign film and television projects.
For Brown, however, Prague is more than a convenient filming location. The city's history and atmosphere inspired the novel itself, and the author has now had the opportunity to watch his fictional version of the Czech capital become a reality.
