The Chamber of Deputies convened today for its constituent session after last month’s elections. MPs took the oath of office, heard reports on the newly formed electoral commission, and established the mandate and immunity committee. Former Czech president Miloš Zeman, 81, was admitted to Prague’s Motol Hospital on Monday morning for a planned medical examination. His publisher said the visit is routine, following surgery earlier this year. Zeman, who served as president from 2013 to 2023, is expected to recover at home next week.

transport Prague’s Metro D line reaches key construction milestone

Prague’s Metro D has reached a key milestone as Olbrachtova became the first fully completed station. Construction, which began in April 2022, includes modern escalators, tunnels, and technical systems. The full line, connecting Pankrác to Depo Písnice, is expected to be completed by early 2028, easing southern Prague commutes and reducing road congestion.

consumer Knihobot faces social media complaints over unfair practices

Dozens of social media users have raised complaints against Prague-based book resale platform Knihobot, alleging unfair practices in pricing and customer refunds. The company has yet to respond publicly to the criticism. Complainants described the company's actions as usury and robbery.

culture New computer game boosts Trosky Castle visitors to record high

Trosky Castle in Bohemian Paradise welcomed nearly 120,000 visitors in 2025, a 30,000 increase from last year. Fans of the computer game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 made up a large part of the crowd, many from the 20–35 age group who don’t usually visit. The castle also hosted themed events and interactive displays linking the ruins to the game’s medieval setting.
