Prague commuters face significant public transport disruptions this week as tram services between I. P. Pavlova and Otakarova have been suspended due to track repairs in Nusle.

The closure began on Wednesday, October 28, and will continue until Sunday evening, November 1, affecting six tram lines across the capital.

According to Czech Radio, workers are repairing tracks, switches, and overhead wiring along Bělehradská Street and near Zvonařka.

Six tram lines affected by diversions

The repairs have prompted several temporary changes to Prague's tram network.

Tram 13 has been suspended entirely for the duration of the closure.

Trams 2 and 21 are operating on modified routes, with services changing line numbers at Karlovo náměstí. Tram 2 arriving from Sídliště Petřiny continues as tram 21 toward Slivenec, with the reverse arrangement operating in the opposite direction.

Tram 6 is diverted via Albertov and Ostrčilovo náměstí, bypassing the closed section.

Tram 11 no longer continues from I. P. Pavlova along Bělehradská. Instead, it travels via Náměstí Míru, Čechovo náměstí, Nádraží Vršovice, and Otakarova before returning to its regular route.

Night tram 96 follows a similar diversion.

Replacement bus X11 operates between Nádraží Vršovice, Divadlo Na Fidlovačce, and Sarajevská.

However, replacement buses cannot operate along the entire closed tram section because of the ongoing construction work, making journeys between Bělehradská and the city center more complicated.

Holiday schedules bring additional changes

The tram closure coincides with changes to Prague's public transport schedules during the autumn school holidays.

On Wednesday, October 28, services operated according to Sunday timetables because of the Czech public holiday.

On Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30, metro, bus, and trolleybus services will operate at reduced frequencies during morning and afternoon peak hours.

Trams will continue operating according to their regular schedules, except for the routes affected by the Nusle closure.

Passengers traveling through the affected areas are advised to allow additional time and check updated connections before departure.

The latest route changes and journey information are available through the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) and the PID journey planner.
