1️⃣ Parties agree on draft government program

ANO, SPD, and the Motorists’ party have reached an agreement in principle on a joint government policy statement, ANO’s Karel Havlíček said after negotiations Saturday. Party leaders will review the draft before ANO’s Andrej Babiš presents its main points to President Petr Pavel on Monday. The 16-member cabinet plan reflects a center-right focus with conservative and social elements, Havlíček said.

2️⃣ Czechs rally against Sudeten German congress

Around 150 people protested Friday in Prague and Brno against plans for the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft to hold its 2026 congress in Brno. Organized by the Czech Borderland Club, demonstrators called the invitation an attempt to “revise history.” The group demanded reparations from Germany and support for the Beneš Decrees. Relations between Czechs and Sudeten Germans have improved in recent years.

3️⃣ Blaze at fireworks warehouse causes major damage

Firefighters battled a large blaze Saturday night at a fireworks warehouse in Bohušovice nad Ohří, near Litoměřice. Several explosions occurred as pyrotechnics and gas cylinders ignited, prompting a third-degree fire alert. Damage is estimated at around CZK 40 million. No serious injuries were reported, though one firefighter was briefly hospitalized for exhaustion. Residents were advised to stay indoors.

4️⃣ Hourly pay expectations rise for temporary workers

Job seekers in Czechia typically expect minimum hourly wages around CZK 160, with younger workers accepting lower rates, according to analysis by job placement firm Tymbe. Demand for flexible, last-minute shifts is growing, especially ahead of the pre-Christmas season, boosting temporary job opportunities by up to 30 percent. Older workers increasingly take short-term jobs as a supplement to main employment, reflecting broader trends in the gig economy.

5️⃣ Drunk man gives random passerby CZK 120,000

Prague police responded Thursday after a man was given a package containing CZK 120,000 at a Podolí park by a random passerby. The donor, showing signs of drug and alcohol intoxication, admitted discarding the money and expressed indifference to its fate. Tests confirmed multiple substances in his system. Authorities verified the cash was not linked to criminal activity and returned it to the man, who left the scene calmly.
