1️⃣ Hyundai plant in Czechia to halt all production

The Hyundai car plant in Nošovice will halt production on Monday, Dec. 1, continuing a pattern of monthly stoppages caused by weaker demand. The factory has already paused output several times this year, including two days in November and three in October. Spokesman Jan Rodek confirmed the latest shutdown but declined further comment. During non-production days, managers assign which employees must still come in; others stay home, with 70 percent of their average earnings.

2️⃣ Snow continues disrupting traffic around Czechia

Fresh snowfall is complicating traffic across several Czech regions, especially Vysočina, where stuck trucks and an overturned tanker slowed movement on key roads. Road crews reported over 150 interventions overnight, with slush and ice forming in higher areas. Southern Bohemia, Hradec Králové, Ústí nad Labem and Zlín regions also saw wet or snowy roads, fog and reduced visibility. While most routes remain passable with caution, meteorologists expect more snowfall and potential freezing precipitation throughout the day.

3️⃣ Prague Stock Exchange rises as bank shares lead gains

The Prague Stock Exchange strengthened Monday, with the PX index up 0.4 percent to 2440.32 points, driven by banking stocks. Komerční banka rose 1.39 percent to CZK 1,163, Moneta 0.98 percent to CZK 185 and Erste 0.65 percent to CZK 2,164. ČEZ weakened 0.93 percent to CZK 1,273 and VIG fell 0.89 percent to CZK 1,116. Broker Tomáš Hazucha noted strong investor activity, with more than CZK 1.5 billion traded overall.

4️⃣ Czech firm starts global drought-monitoring system

CzechGlobe, with partners from the U.S. National Drought Mitigation Center, has launched the first global system for monitoring and forecasting drought impacts. The Terra Drought website provides detailed real-time data and an archive of drought events worldwide. A ten-member team previously analyzed around 8,000 media reports over three years in multiple languages, tracking effects on agriculture, water supply, fires and transport. The new system expands that work into a unified global platform.

5️⃣ FACR invites Roma youth players after racist incident on train

The Czech Football Association will invite Roma youth players from the Mongagua organization to the next international match after they faced racist insults from Ostrava fans on a Saturday train, chairman David Trunda said. He met with government human rights commissioner Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková, who emphasized support from FC Baník players. Police are investigating why a train with hundreds of fans had no escort. Baník apologized and plans joint prevention activities with Mongagua.
