WEATHER Czechia to see dry weather through holidays

Czechia may remain under a rain shadow until the end of the year as blocking high-pressure systems dominate central Europe, according to local meteorologists. Forecast models point to continued temperature inversions, fog and minimal rainfall in coming weeks. December is on track to be warmer and drier than average, reducing chances of snow even in mountain areas.

POLITICS Fiala slams Babiš's stance on Ukraine aid

Outgoing Prime Minister Petr Fiala called Andrej Babiš’s refusal to financially support Ukraine selfish and irresponsible, warning it could harm Czech security and prosperity. He said richer EU states would remember such positions in future budget talks. Babiš argues Czechia cannot afford guarantees for Ukraine and wants the European Commission to find other funding methods ahead of an EU summit.

TRANSPORT New train and bus timetables take effect

New rail and bus timetables come into effect in Czechia on Sunday, bringing new international services, added connections and adjusted departure times. Major rail operators expanded routes to Poland and other European destinations, while regional bus schedules were shifted to improve transfers. Transport officials urge passengers to check updated departure times, as even small changes may affect regular journeys.

CYBERSECURITY CloudEye malware surges across Czechia

A new trojan known as CloudEye has rapidly become the most common Windows threat in Czechia, accounting for about a quarter of detected attacks, security experts said. The malware spreads mainly via malicious email attachments and installs other harmful programs, including spyware. Analysts warn attackers are exploiting the pre-Christmas period, when users tend to be less cautious online.

SPORTS Czech hockey team plays for title at Swiss Games

Czech players will meet Sweden today in Zurich for the championship game of the Swiss Hockey Games, part of the Euro Hockey Tour. After beating Finland 3-1 and Switzerland 5-3, coach Radim Rulík plans lineup changes, with Petr Kváča in goal and key players Jiří Ticháček, Jan Rutta, Matěj Stránský, Dominik Kubalík, and Lukáš Rousek returning to the ice.
