Breaking: Czech food shops must provide sanitary gloves at entrance from tomorrow

The Czech Ministry of Health has ordered all grocery stores and food shops in the Czech Republic to provide plastic gloves for customers

As part of a number of new measures introduced by Czech officials at a press conference this afternoon, the Czech Ministry of Health has ordered all grocery stores and food shops in the Czech Republic to provide gloves for customers at the shop entrance.

Depending on what the store has available, the gloves do not need to be literal gloves. Small plastic bags, to be worn by customers as gloves when handling food, would also meet this requirement.

Some stores had stopped providing these bags earlier this year in efforts to reduce plastic waste.

The gloves or bags must be provided to customers free of charge.

The new regulation will take effect from tomorrow, March 27.

Other measures announced at today’s press briefing include the easing of service closures to allow locksmiths, repair services, and similar services to operate from Friday.

Finance Minister Alena Schillerová also announced that self-employed persons affected by the coronavirus measures would be eligible for 15,000 crowns in monthly benefits.
