We recently reported on the opening of ice-skating season across Prague, with a number of the Czech capital’s traditional skating rinks returning for another season of icy fun.

An additional wave of rinks will be opening in the coming weeks. Prague 8 alone will see three rinks open to the public in the coming weeks at Ládví (December 8), Bohnice (open), and Kasarna Karlín (December 17).

Last year’s rink at Kasarna Karlín

At the Karlín and Ladví venues, skaters can look forward to a rink measuring 15×30 meters; the largest will be at Bohnice at 20×40 meters. All three rinks have the same opening hours; skating is free and Prague 8 town hall is promising a line-up of “children’s disco” events.

See here for a full schedule and for directions to each of these ice-skating rinks.

For the first time this year, a 10×20-meter rink will open in Prague 11 at U Modré školy (located near the Haje metro station). The rink opens December 15 and will remain open through January 15, 2019.

Skating is free. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 13-20; Sat-Sun 10-17.

The area’s hilly Centrální park is also a great spot for sledding away from the crowds.
