It’s time to pack away the summer wear and layer up for the change in season. Fear not, there’s plenty of interesting events taking place in October!  

MUSIC

2 – Ibrahim Maalouf: Lebanese trumpet player plays Palác Akropolis. A world class musician and unmissable show!

3-4 – FOK Dvořák Beethoven: Amazing classical music from an extremely talented orchestra.    

4 – Zeds Dead: Canadian electronic duo play the best in dance music for the Yes Club crew!

6 – Brenton: Multi-talented musicians and visual artists combine styles with very interesting results!  

10 – Dead Can Dance:  Prague Congress Centre opens its doors to the Australian world fusion band.

18 – Brit Floyd: A breathtaking show with precision: unique animation matched with perfect light and sound, from the band considered the best Pink Floyd tribute in the world. 

20 – Lionel Richie: A smash hit performance from the master of catchy tracks. Prepare your dancing shoes for some ceiling action!

21 – Avishai Cohen: World-renowned Israeli bassist and composer plays Prague’s Divadlo Hybernia.

26 – Jennifer Lopez: The queen of the Latin dancehall will be performing tracks from her 2011 album “Love?”. Expect high energy and a selection of hits from the US superstar! 

30 – REFUSED:  The Czech Republic welcomes the Swedish rockers after their problematic performance at this year’s Rock for People Festival. Check event website for discounted entry for Rock Fest attendees!

ART

1-7 – Design Blok:  14th annual week-long exhibition of new pieces from the world of design. Browse a selection of showrooms and galleries or enjoy the accompanying program and installations.        

What's On in October

Until 14.11 – Emil Filla Retrospective:  A retrospective exhibition, put together from the Prague City Gallery collection, representing the famed Czech artist’s work.    

Until 28.10 – Stern Light: The unique private collection of Czech and Slovak authors who, from the 1920s to the 1940s, devoted their time to socially conscious photography.    

15-22 – 4+4 Days in Motion: The 16th annual performing arts festival, which utilizes objects and locations around the city. The festival incorporates all genres of contemporary art.        

Until 21.10 – Gigantomachie and Outsider Art: The Montanelli Museum hosts two parallel exhibitions, which will acquaint the visitor with two opposing poles of Czech spontaneous art.     

FOOD & DRINK

6-7 – Burger Fest: Chefs from Prague’s top restaurants offer the unique opportunity to taste real American burgers!

6 – Sugar Festival Loučeň: Satisfy your sweet tooth and enjoy a day of sugary delights!    

27 – Prague Coffee Festival: A day for coffee lovers! A perfect blend of coffee-related activities!

5 – L’elisir d’amore: One of Donizetti’s most popular comic operas.    

3- 21 – Prague Indian Film Fest: In its tenth year and still going strong! A showcase of Bollywood and contemporary Indian cinematography taking place at selected cinemas.    

Until 20.10 – Women of Will, The Complete Journey: An expansive, thrilling look at the female characters in Shakespeare’s oeuvre (in English).   

27-28 – The Vocoa People: The musical comedy sensation comes to Prague’s Divadlo Hybernia!

SPORT

13 – Velká Pardubická Steeplechase
: Famous steeplechase cross-country run in Pardubice celebrates 122 years on the trot!

29 – Petra Kvitová vs. Maria Sharapova: An exciting exhibition match taking place in the O2 Arena.
