Two new COVID-19 testing points will open in Prague 6 this coming week in cooperation with GHC Genetics.

Prague city officials said they are working to expand the number of testing centers available in the capital city so residents do not have to travel so far to get a COVID-19 test done.

"Expanding the network of sampling points is very important from an epidemic point of view. The set of people who need to be tested will be more spread to individual sampling points, which will improve the availability and speed of testing," Viktor Furman, Director of GHC Genetics, said in a statement.

"At the same time, the new collection points will help to reduce the longer journeys of potentially positive people, who could infect others, especially if they traveled by public transport."

"In the current situation, it is necessary to try to bring the sampling points as close as possible to people and thus help alleviate the contact of healthy and potentially infected people," Furman added.

The first location will be at Vítězné náměstí near the exit of the metro, close to the intersection of Šolínova and Technická streets. It will open for the first time on Sunday, Oct. 18.

The testing center will operate from 8:00 to 18:00 on Sunday to Thursday and require a prior appointment, which can be done on their website.

The second testing location will be a drive-in option near the Džbán reservoir on Nad Lávkou Street, located in the car park area.

Unlike the previous location, this testing location only offers a drive-in option to avoid long lines and contact.

"It will be possible to test a maximum of three people in one car, which corresponds to one ten-minute period that is set in the system. If there are more than three people in the car for testing, it is necessary to choose two times in the reservation system, which follow immediately after each other," said Furman.

The testing location will be open starting on Wednesday, Oct. 21. It will run on a more limited schedule: Wednesday to Sunday from 8:00 to 18:00. You will need to reserve your time online via reservio.cz.

This location will also accept cards as a method of payment.

For questions about either of these two new collection points, contact the COVID help line (+420) 739 500 500, which is open daily from 6:00 to 24:00.
