🇬🇧 This Week's English-Friendly Screenings
It Was Just an Accident has taken on renewed urgency following this weekend’s strikes on Iran, which reportedly led to the deaths of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other top officials. Directed by Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, the Cannes-winning drama follows a group of former political prisoners who grapple with the chance to confront the man they believe tortured them.
Panahi’s exploration of vengeance, accountability, and moral doubt resonates sharply amid the latest upheaval. The Prague Reporter calls the film “a suspenseful thriller, a dark political satire, and a meditation on trauma and accountability.” It Was Just an Accident is now playing with English subtitles at select screenings at Edison Filmhub, Kino Světozor, Kino Aero, and Kino Lucerna in Prague.
