The VRSlide debuted at Galaxy Waterslide World in Erding, Germany last spring, proudly laying claim to the title of “world’s first virtual reality waterslide.”

Just in time to beat the winter blues, the altered-reality waterslide experience has now made it to the Czech Republic.

Open from mid-January at Aquapalace Praha in Čestlice, the Magic Tube attraction is a kind of roller coaster-meets-water-world intergalactic spectacle designed for anyone who doesn’t find hurtling down a waterslide a big enough thrill.

“The Magic Tube offers a unique combination of water entertainment and virtual reality. When you go down the water slide, you can look into the universe or explore the Milky Way, strange planets or mythical temples. A whole new dimension of water fun is waiting for you,” states the waterpark’s description of its splashy new futuristic attraction.

For those wondering — rightfully so — if delicate VR technology and equipment mix with water, the waterproof headset, powered by custom software developed by Ballast Technologies, the world’s first aquatic virtual reality provider, can be completely submerged (up to a few meters) in water.

Users get a 360-degree view of their surroundings with synchronized motion and images augmented by sound.

“Virtual reality on the waterslide conveys a new dimension of water entertainment, which has not been available to us yet. We are therefore very glad that we can offer this exceptional attraction to our visitors first,” said Vladana Horakova, general manager of Aquapalace Praha.
