Scottish police are searching for a 48-year-old Czech woman last seen six days ago in John O’Groats, a village in the far north of mainland Scotland.
The woman, identified in the police appeal as Zuzana, was last seen at her accommodation around 4 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Coastguard teams, divers and mountain rescuers are assisting, STV News reported.
Police appeal for sightings
Zuzana arrived by train in Wick on the evening of Oct. 2. Police believe she may subsequently have traveled toward Sannick Bay, a short drive from John O’Groats.
She is approximately 168 centimeters tall and has brown, curly hair. Her clothing is unknown, but police believe she has hiking equipment and a backpack.
Inspector Daniel Jack said officers were very concerned and urged anyone who had seen her since 4 p.m. on Oct. 6 to contact police.
Czech diplomats assist
The Czech Consulate General in Manchester is communicating with local authorities, Foreign Ministry spokesman Adam Čörgő told ČTK.
“Our consul is providing the necessary consular assistance on site,” he said. The ministry declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing search and privacy considerations.
Anyone with relevant information can consult Police Scotland’s appeal and contact the force.
