Prague to Krakow Daily Train Connection Has Been Restored

The Cracovia Express will connect three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Prague, Olomouc, Krakow

Following a seven-year hiatus that saw no daytime direct rail link between the two historic cities, the Prague-Krakow train connection has been restored.

From last Thursday, Czech Railways announced that a new daily connection will be offered between both cities with trains departing in the morning and reaching Krakow in the late afternoon.

Czech Railways will operate the line in connection with Polish railways PKP Intercity.

“The history of Krakow is in many ways linked with Bohemia and Moravia, therefore Krakow is a popular tourist destination for tourists from the Czech Republic. The train moreover combines three significant sites inscribed on the World Heritage list of UNESCO: Prague, Olomouc, and Krakow,” said Michal Štěpán, a member of the Board of Czech Railways.

The new daily connection, Ex 114/115 Cracovia, is seasonal and will depart from Prague at 10:22 and arrive in Krakow at 17:21. In the opposite direction, the train from Krakow will depart at 10:42 and arrive in Prague at 17:39.

Cracovia Express offers passengers air-conditioned cars with first and second class seating.

Reserved seats from Prague to Krakow begin at 515 CZK; the overnight sleeper car option, which is what existed before the daily route, will also continue service.
