St. Patrick's Day falls on Friday, March 17 this year, and numerous festivities are planned throughout the city. But you don't have to wait to celebrate: St. Patrick's Festival Prague brings together the Czech capital's Irish pubs for a week of festivities that kicks off from Monday, March 13.
Now in its second year of existence, St. Patrick's Festival Prague will spread its celebrations across four popular Irish pubs in Prague's city center this week.
Those pubs include Caffrey's, located at Old Town Square, Durty Nelly's on nearby Melantrichova street in Old Town, McCarthy's Irish Pub on Rytířská street by the Můstek metro station, and Rocky O'Reilly's off Wenceslas Square.
A printed program for St. Patrick's Festival Prague events can be picked up from each of the participating venues. Events includes live music, karaoke, an Irish pub quiz, live sports presentations, and much more.
Each of the venues is within about a 10-15 minute walking distance from each other, and the program includes a map to get to each of the pubs. You can collect stamps at each venue to unlock special food and drink offers.
The events will culminate with a charity raffle draw on Sunday, March 19. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased at participating venues throughout the week, and prizes include a €400 grand prize, a CZK 3000 voucher to Prague Mexican restaurant Tek'ila Tek'ila, and a bottle of Jameson Black Barrel.
Proceeds from the raffle draw will go to support the Ireland's Marie Keating Foundation, which aims to raise cancer awareness through early detection screenings and provide support services to those diagnosed with cancer at each stage of their journey.
Keep an eye out for additional St. Patrick's Day events throughout Prague on Friday, March 17. While the city doesn't dye the Vltava river green like Chicago does, local landmarks like the Petřín Lookout Tower typically light up to mark the occasion.
