Summer in Prague can be a scorcher. When the sidewalks start radiating heat and every patch of shade feels earned, the city's rooftops, hidden courtyards, riverside terraces, and cool indoor hideaways come into their own. From beer gardens with panoramic views to boats moored on the Vltava and terraces tucked behind historic passages, we've rounded up some of our favorite places to eat, drink, and escape the heat this summer.

ROXY

For more than three decades, ROXY on Dlouhá Street has been where many nights naturally continue, whether that means stopping in for a drink or staying until the early hours. Summer drink specials, expanded seating, and daytime events like Techno Pilates mean there's plenty happening before the dance floor fills each night. The club’s summer program also includes weekend Mainstage parties and Techno Nights, with DnB Wednesdays taking place every second Wednesday from 8 p.m. For anyone who wants the night to keep moving, it remains one of Prague’s most reliable late-night addresses.

The Tavern

Sitting just outside Riegrovy Sady, and a short walk from the newly renovated Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, The Tavern has been part of Prague's summertime ritual since 2011, drawing locals, expats, and visitors alike for its American-style burgers, craft cocktails, cold beer, and signature Gingerovka shots. Its sunny Vozová patio works for a casual park-side meet-up, while the long-running weekend brunch has made the Vinohrady spot a neighborhood staple.

Starbucks Savarin

Tucked inside the newly restored Savarin complex, a historic passage opens onto a peaceful courtyard terrace that's easy to miss from bustling Na Příkopě. Alongside freshly roasted coffee and seasonal refreshments, Starbucks Savarin also serves sandwiches, pastries, and sweet treats for a quick break between shopping or sightseeing. Large umbrellas and comfortable seating make the courtyard useful for post-shopping respite or a short remote-work break in the city center.

Čapadlo

There are plenty of places to stop along the Vltava in summer, but few come with a view of Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and free live music. Right below the National Theatre, Čapadlo, an open-air cultural and gastronomic terrace, serves Italian pinsa, tank Staropramen, cocktails, and wine, while daily concerts and community events give people another reason to linger by the river and fully soak up what Czech summers are all about.

Teplá Kačka

Hidden just off one of Prague 7's busiest streets, Teplá Kačka's quiet garden terrace is easy to miss. The peaceful setting is a fitting home for an equally unexpected concept: Czech duck meets Asian street food, with duck ramen made from slowly roasted birds, handmade dim sum and wontons, house-fermented kimchi, and Sichuan-style pork belly all prepared from scratch. As you down bold spices and smoky flavors, the shady garden terrace is a welcome reprieve for your palate.

Letenský zámeček

No Prague summer feels quite complete without at least one evening in a beer garden. Perched high above the Vltava in Letná Park, Letenský zámeček has been drawing people to its hilltop terraces for more than 160 years, with sweeping views across the city's bridges, church spires, and red rooftops. With room for 1,400 people, the beer garden keeps tables full with tank Pilsner Urquell, frozen margaritas, cocktails, and casual street food. Live DJs and outdoor salsa nights give visitors another reason to stay after dark.

Brasserie 1932

Some summer evenings call for less heat, not more sun. Brasserie 1932, the newest dining concept at Almanac X Alcron Prague, channels the city's golden age of gastronomy into a drinks list built for exactly that: something cool, something classic, and no rush to leave. It's a solid after-work option for a glass of wine or a cocktail on a hot evening, with enough on the menu to justify staying longer for dinner.

Bistro Karel

It's not every brunch that you get to enjoy with a baroque château as a backdrop. But tucked away on the 17th-century grounds of Troja Château, Bistro Karel offers up one of the most picturesque spots in the city. After strolling through the gardens, Prague Zoo, or the nearby Botanical Garden, you can enjoy summery favorites like pancakes with strawberries and crème fraîche, specialty coffee, natural wines, homemade gelato, or dinners prepared on a Big Green Egg grill. Seating is available inside or on the terrace.

MIRU

Open throughout the summer season from May to September, MIRU brings Japanese-inspired dining to the rooftop of the Four Seasons Hotel Prague. Named after the Japanese word for "view," the seasonal restaurant pairs panoramic vistas of Prague Castle and the Vltava with a Nikkei tasting menu by chef Toshikazu Kato, where Japanese techniques meet Peruvian flavors. Arrive for the 7 p.m. seating and watch the city shift from day to dusk alongside each course.

Starbucks NR7

Though you'd never guess it from the bustle outside, Starbucks NR7, directly opposite Palladium, is a quieter place to pause during a busy summer day, is a quieter place to pause during a busy summer day. Large arched windows frame one of Prague's busiest intersections, while inside, iced coffees, cold brews, and seasonal Frappuccinos offer a welcome break from the heat before heading back into the crowds.

Kunsthalle Praha

Located inside a former electrical substation beneath Prague Castle, Kunsthalle Praha is a contemporary art museum that comes with not one but two outdoor terraces: one overlooking Prague Castle and Petřín Hill, the other wrapped around the building's industrial façade. No gallery ticket is required to visit the café, though an iced coffee, homemade lemonade, or glass of wine pairs nicely with an afternoon spent exploring exhibitions, browsing the design shop, or watching the trams rumble through Malá Strana below. On especially hot days, the fully air-conditioned interiors offer a welcome escape from the heat.

Isaac's BBQ

Isaac's BBQ is best known for smoked meats and classic American barbecue, but its summer menu heads in a different direction. Seasonal vegetables, tropical fruit, fresh herbs, and citrus take on smoky notes in dishes like heirloom tomato panzanella and popcorn shrimp with pickled watermelon. Order a few plates for the table, add a couple of cocktails, and you've got an easy way to while away a warm evening in Prague.

Bar and Books

If you're looking to escape the heat from Old Town Square, Bar and Books offers a cooler, moodier alternative in the center of Prague. With an extensive whisky menu, there's plenty of ice, plus polished service, classic cocktails, cigars, and a setting built for slowing down. The Týnská location brings the atmosphere of the original New York bar to Old Town, while the Národní venue near the National Theatre gives visitors another central address for a post-work drink, or a late-evening stop after dinner or a show.

Ristorante Marina

There are plenty of places to eat along the Vltava, but far fewer where you're dining on the river itself. Moored between Prague Castle and the Old Town, Ristorante Marina serves classic Italian cuisine from a boat with panoramic views of the city's historic skyline. Its spacious summer terrace is the main draw, giving guests a waterfront setting for lunch, an afternoon aperitivo, or a sunset dinner with Prague Castle in view.

B21 Cocktail Bar

Hidden away in a peaceful courtyard just off Bílkova Street, B21 Cocktail Bar has created a signature menu inspired by the country's 14 regions, with each cocktail telling the story of a different corner of Czechia through local flavors and ingredients. Pair one with a few tapas and escape the bustle of Old Town for an unhurried summer aperitif in one of the neighborhood's quieter corners.

Terasa U Prince

Old Town Square is rarely quiet, but five floors above it, the pace feels surprisingly different. Perched above the Astronomical Clock inside Hotel U Prince, Terasa U Prince offers front-row views of Týn Church and Prague's historic rooftops without having to weave through the crowds below. In summer, the Josper grill comes into its own with steaks and grilled specialties, while spritzes, sangria, and signature cocktails make it an easy place to settle in and watch the city change from afternoon to golden hour. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for tables with direct views.

Starbucks Vodičkova

Positioned between Karlovo náměstí and Wenceslas Square, Starbucks Vodičkova sits on one of Prague's busiest streets. But step through to the hidden inner courtyard and the pace changes completely, with shaded tables and lounge seating offering a welcome break from the crowds. It's a handy spot to cool off with an iced coffee or Frappuccino before carrying on through the city center.
