As more than 92,000 students sit their state school-leaving exams this week – the highest number since 2014 – another cohort of families is still waiting to find out whether their children made it through the door in the first place.

This year's high school admissions results have confirmed what many Prague parents had already feared.

Even students with solid grades have been shut out of their preferred schools, pushed into later rounds or less suitable options. In late April, around 200 people gathered on the steps of Prague City Hall to say they have had enough.

For international families living in Prague, the issue is not just finding a place, it's finding one that actually fits.
