Last Saturday, the closing event of the PIM Running Circuit 2010, the

TESCO Prague Grand Prix

took place in a fantastic set up.

The 15th jubilee edition of this event, organized under the flag of IAAF Silver Road Race Label, welcomed in total around 8000 runners enjoying an individual or a team run on a beautiful autumn evening in the magical centre of Prague.

The course records in terms of fastest time remained untouched, but when it comes to participation, there are surely few incredible numbers that entered in the PIM history.

The opening race, Tesco Run for Life, organized under patronage of the Childhood Cancer Foundation Krtek, saw 3800 supporters (80% more than 2009), running with the aim to raise 3 million CZK for charity. The founder Martina Šmuková, together with the actors Tereza Kostková and Jan Antonín Duchoslav took active part in the race.

The 1471 women at the start of the adidas Women´s Race 5km meant not just 15% increase compared to last year, but also the biggest race for women ever run in the Czech Republic. The gold medal went to Zakia Mrisho from Tanzania, who crossed the line in 15:41.

The evening culminated with the METRO Men´s Race 10km that saw 2565 runners (15% more than 2009) on the start line. The Moroccan Mourad Marofit crossed the finish line first in 28:27, and thus beating the last year´s winner in a sprinting finish full of drama and excitement.

The festive happening at the Old Town Square was enriched with the Hilton Cloud 9 Barmen´s Race, an attraction race that also becomes a PIM tradition. 14 barmen teams entertained the spectators with their acrobatic skills on a round course full of tricky obstacles. For the sake of truth, the most dexterous team was the ‘host team´ from Hilton Cloud 9 Sky Bar. Nevertheless, in the category of individuals, the fastest barman was Petr Dřevikovský from Café Louvre bar.

Needless to mention, organizing a world class event with highest international standards wouldn´t have been possible without your kind support. We are enormously grateful for sharing your enthusiasm and creative ideas with us.

We look forward to a long lasting cooperation full of joy, excitement, and joint success!
