Prague stag weekends are changing. Here’s how to plan a better one

Prague built its bachelor-party reputation on cheap beer, packed cellar bars and the promise of a weekend where (almost) anything went. For years, that formula drew groups from across Europe and around the world to the Czech capital, but Prague is changing. Its nightlife now includes ambitious restaurants, polished cocktail bars and experiences that extend well beyond the traditional Old Town pub crawl.

In fact, since November 2024, commercially organized pub crawls have been prohibited between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Prague’s visitors are more likely to stumble across high-end restaurants and trendy cocktail bars, than large groups of bros chanting inside jokes while wearing banana costumes on the hunt for their next beer.

Groups don’t need to abandon the city or spend the weekend whispering over mineral water. The modern stag trip requires a little more imagination and better coordination, which is where companies like Prague Stag Fun come in. 

Operated by local agency Art of Your Travel, their aim is to help stag groups navigate this newer version of Prague by connecting visitors with activities like VIP club entrances, go-karting, and even the chance to ride in an old-school tank.

An enjoyable stag weekend does not have to be a quiet one. Expert party planners create a schedule that keeps groups occupied and avoids the familiar routine of drinking from lunchtime, because nobody planned anything else. 

“Every group is different,” says Martina Gregorcova, founder of Art of Your Travel and Prague Stag Fun. “The best results come when the program is built around the people, not just around a fixed package.” 

Martina suggests groups plan a few daytime activities that suit different energy levels and interests. Her team can help book an energized afternoon of Go-karting, or a tank-driving experience that puts the group aboard a military-style vehicle for a ride across rough terrain.

In the evening, groups can explore some of Prague’s most legendary clubs and nightlife spots. Transport is one of the less glamorous parts of organizing a weekend, but it can determine how smoothly the day runs. Party hopping with Prague’s public transportation could take a while, not to mention consequences of rowdy behavior. 

Martina recommends booking private transfers, keeping groups together and reducing delays. Limousine transport and party buses can also be arranged according to the group’s schedule and budget.

For a more Instagram-worthy experience, a private boat cruise typically satisfies. Relax on the open deck and drink in the city’s skyline along the Vltava while also drinking unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks. It’s not uncommon for evening revelers to cheer for the groom-to-be from the banks of the lively Náplavka district.

Your best man may have been the party planning king back in university, but there’s a lot more work involved when the stag ‘do location is abroad, in an unfamiliar city, where everything from the language to the currency to the way you order a beer can feel overwhelming.

“Many groups arrive in Prague with a rough idea of what they want, but they do not always realize how much timing, transport and local coordination matter,” Martina adds. “A good Prague weekend is not only about one activity. It is about making the whole plan work.”
