Ukrainian delivery company Nova Post has opened its first-ever branch in Czechia, which will make deliveries to Ukraine from Czechia (and vice versa) cheaper. Nova Post, created in 2001, has more than 8,700 branches throughout Ukraine and delivers over 300 million parcels annually to around 15 million customers.

Rapidly expanding

Since February 2022, it has expanded to European countries and has 31 branches in Poland, 19 in Moldova, two in Lithuania, and one (recently opened) in Germany. It employs over 40,000 people globally.

The Ukrainian postal carrier plans to further expand throughout Europe and cooperate with more e-shops in Czechia. By 2025, it wants to open 200 branches in 30 European countries. It already has an international shipping service, Nova Global, that flies to the U.S. and China.

Nova’s new branch is based in Prague 4’s Krč region and is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Next week, a new branch will open in Florenc, and Brno will see its first Nova unit within the next two months.

“We have expertise in the speed of delivery, years of experience in cross-border parcel services, and the latest equipment to offer our customers. We deliver any goods from all over the world to the Czech Republic in the shortest possible time, and we will also make it easier for Czech companies to enter the Ukrainian consumer market”

Vjačeslav Klymov, Nova Post co-owner

According to the CEO of Nova’s Czech branch Volodymyr Sterenčuk, for now Nova CZ will only facilitate deliveries between Czechia and Ukraine. Future plans, though, entail the sending of parcels to other European branches.

Cheaper that Czech Post

The price of sending a document to Ukraine will be CZK 250 – a parcel of up to 2 kilograms (kg) will cost CZK 300. Delivery time is no shorter than five days and will usually be no longer than 12 days.

Nova's prices

  • Paper documents – CZK 250
  • Parcels up to 2 kg – CZK 300
  • Parcels up to 10 kg - CZK 450
  • Parcels up to 30 kg - CZK 750
  • Parcels from 31 kg to 1000 kg – CZK 25 per 1 kg extra

State postal carrier Czech Post charges CZK 419 for parcels up to 2 kg. A 30-kg package sent via Czech Post costs around CZK 1,055. It is also cheaper than international shipping company Meest, which charges CZK 280 for shipping a 2-kg parcel to Ukraine.

With an estimated 750,000 Ukrainians living in Czechia (about half being refugees with a lot of family still in the war-hit country), Nova Post’s opening will come as welcome news to many.
