The Entry-Exit System (EES) is set to see full implementation across Schengen states this week, which means travel around Europe could get complicated.

The EES, which began rolling out at select airports in October 2025, will become the standard border control for all eligible non‑EU short stays across all participating Schengen states on April 10, 2026. Czechia will participate in a "soft rollout" on April 9.

The purpose of the new system is to modernize EU border security and immigration systems, reduce crime and fraud, and identify security risks. But early rollouts, both in Prague and elsewhere, were not without growing pains.

What should travelers expect with the finalization of the rollout and has Prague's airport improved its wait times? Here's what to know ahead of Friday's rollout.
