Czech consumers are set for a major expansion in shopping and dining options as 16 new global brands entered the domestic market in the first half of 2026. The influx spans fashion, gastronomy, and electronics, signaling a robust post-renovation retail boom across major Czech cities.

According to data released by real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield, Prague has firmly established itself as a premier European retail hub rather than a mere transit stop.

The capital attracted the vast majority of newcomers, though regional cities like Ostrava and Pardubice also secured high-profile international debuts.

For local food lovers, the recent arrivals include Ukraine’s Best Market supermarket on Budějovická and the German-backed YO! Sushi in Zličín and Home of Dumplings in Vinohrady.

The iconic Na Příkopě street now hosts one of the world's first BOSS Cafés, situated directly next to the fashion label's Central European flagship store. Meanwhile, regional expansions saw Polish children's retailer Smyk open in Ostrava’s Avion shopping center, and Italian sports nutrition brand Volchem debut in Pardubice.

Prague market is transforming

"Prague is a city that international concepts perceive as a full-fledged European market with a mature customer base, high tourist frequency, and a vibrant local scene," said Jan Kotrbáček, partner at Cushman & Wakefield.

He noted that the retail landscape has been significantly boosted by local infrastructure upgrades, including the recent reconstruction of Jiřího z Poděbrad Square.

The retail surge is expected to accelerate dramatically heading into the winter with the highly anticipated arrival of American donut giant Krispy Kreme, alongside US fast-food chain Dave’s Hot Chicken and Germany's Burgermeister.

The luxury sector is also preparing for a transformation, with two major international brands scheduled to open in the Pařížská 25 project, alongside the country's first standalone Longines boutique.

Beyond dining and apparel, everyday shopping will see a shake-up with the impending arrival of Danish drugstore chain Normal and Germany’s Müller. Gaming enthusiasts will also see a major addition to the local entertainment scene with the upcoming launch of the SAW Esports Arena, marking the country’s first international e-sports venue.
