Monumental crystal sculptures made in the Czech Republic are adding to the charm of the "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," a movie that climbed to the top of Netflix streaming charts worldwide.

Released on Dec. 23, the movie is a murder mystery with an all-star cast, including Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr. , Edward Norton, David Bautista, and Janelle Monáe among others. Its IMDB rating is 7.3/10, and it has a ranking of 71 percent in the Czech-Slovak Film Database.

The sculptures, which in the movie adorn the mansion of the billionaire Miles Bron, played by Norton, were made by the Pačinek Glass factory located in Kunratice. It's safe to say that their presence is the cherry on the cake amid the movie's convoluted twists and turn, which led the Guardian to ask "Are eccentric detectives the new superheroes?" in a review of the movie.

In an Instagram post, the company spoke about its collaboration with master glassmaker Jiří Pačinek and with senior art director John Dexter to create the sculptures that appear in the movie. "It was John Dexter who, for the first time in his life and in his work, entered the glass factory last July and August, and met Jiří Pačinek and his art here," the post reads.

The next step, which consisted in the creation of the series of almost 60 monumental crystal sculptures, took four weeks, and was based on templates created after the meeting.

The UN General Assembly declared 2022 the International Year of Glass, a distinction that overlapped with the Czech Republic's presidency of the EU Council, leading to increased international recognition of the Czech glassmaking tradition.
