Czech budget freezes defense spending, boosts transport and families

The Czech government on Monday approved its draft 2026 budget, pledging extra cash for roads, rail, and support for families, while opting not to raise defence spending above the current NATO benchmark of 2 percent of GDP.

The draft now heads to parliament, with ministers outlining where the additional money would go and where spending will remain capped.
