A new whiskey bar and restaurant is set to open soon in Prague's Old Town

Autumn will see the opening of a unique restaurant and whiskey depository in the Czech capital

The Czech Republic isn’t exactly known for its whiskey, though the story of Hammer Head, a Czech single malt produced during the communist era, is an interesting one. Czechs, however, have in recent years become avid whiskey drinkers.

In response to the spirit’s growing popularity, a new whiskey venture will soon be making its Prague debut.

Whiskey Restaurant, Bar & Museum on Maiselova in the Josefov quarter near Old Town Square promises an “unusual experience for all lovers world cuisine, wines, and cocktails.” It is due to open in early September.

Prague will become the world’s second branch of a dining concept that combines a restaurant and bar with a whiskey depository of labels from all over the world; the original flagship branch of the restaurant is located in Tel Aviv.

Guests will be able to sample more than 1,000 kinds of whiskey from 13 countries around the world, from traditional producers such as Scotland and Ireland to exotic distilleries in Hong Kong, India, and Japan, in a historic underground space in Prague.

According to the company that is launching the museum on the Czech market, domestic whiskey will also be represented.

A modern kitchen sending out dishes specifically designed to enhance the taste of whiskey will offer steaks prepared on charcoal, fish, and vegetarian specialties.

Aside from operating as a traditional restaurant with a capacity for up to 130 people, the venue features VIP lounges for events with private entry from Kaprova Street. Whiskey workshops and tastings will also be offered regularly.
