If autumn calls for anything, it's somewhere warm to sit with something tasty in front of you. October obliges – with new bakeries, a bigger Pult, and a seasonal menu worth revisiting.

COZY cafés

La Forme has long been one of Prague's most reliable stops for a serious croissant, and its new Rytířská branch in Old Town is the most complete version of the concept yet – a proper café-bakery hybrid where the pastries (croissants, danishes, sweet rolls) are made on-site, the coffee is excellent, and matcha is also on offer. It looks the part too: light, minimal, Scandinavian in spirit.

Mama Cafe has recently opened a second location, Mama², in Prague 10. Stop by to enjoy their infamously delicious Mama cakes and unwind in the relaxing atmosphere of Vršovice. This location is on the spacious side, so no need to worry about that cramped café environment here.

NEW OLD FAITHFULS

The beloved beer bar Pult has crossed the river. Ambiente's second location – on Tusarova 39 in Holešovice, opened September 8th – is bigger, brighter and more ambitious than the original V Celnici, with twelve taps running six lagers and six rotating specialty brews, each selected by the venue's own tasting board. The kitchen runs until 1 a.m. every day and centres on Czech beef – steaks, carpaccio and tartare. The beer tiramisu is not to be missed.

The eccentrically named Fatfuck Smash Burgers has introduced a new location at Manifesto Market Anděl. This American-inspired eatery takes special care ensuring each burger served is just as mouth-watering as the last. Some would even say they do it better than America.

TRENDING EATS

Greenery 1060 in Prague 1 offers something a little greener to its customers. This restaurant prides itself on the natural element of both its atmosphere and cuisine, incorporating fresh vegetables as the main component of its dishes. If you are looking for a farm-to-table vibe in Prague, Greenery 1060 is the place to go.

Lami by Basu, located in Prague 1, is your destination for noodles. This revamped Chinese restaurant is taking the stage on Instagram this season, already acquiring a large customer base. Lami has history going way back to the Silk Road, making this a culturally rich and delicious experience. If you're out in Prague 1 craving good Asian cuisine, you know where to go.

GET TIPSY

Grape & Sour, located at Korunní 105, has undergone a complete makeover this past year. Four friends banded together to completely reshape what was once an old wine bar into the new and improved Grape & Sour, where you can enjoy a wide variety of wines as well as vermouths, beer sours, lambics, or gueuze. Check out this new and improved space for a relaxing candlelit evening at an extremely chic wine bar.

SEASONAL INDULGENCES

Isaac's BBQ has launched its autumn menu, and it's doing what Isaac does best – taking familiar formats and pushing them somewhere more interesting. The new fried chicken sandwich pairs a buttermilk-brined thigh with fermented plum hot honey, chipotle kimchi and sesame mayo; the Cheesy Quesabirria fills a cheddar-covered corn tortilla with smoked lamb birria and roasted tomatillo salsa, served with consommé for dipping (arguably the best bit); and dessert is a pistachio banana pudding built on brown butter vanilla, bourbon-pistachio crumble and torched banana.

If you need more of a reason to visit, Isaac's is also part of this year's Restaurant Week (October 13th–November 18th), with a Caesar wedge salad, a bubbling cheddar and pulled pork fondue with duck fat fries and grilled corn, and that same banana pudding to finish.
